My priorities for supporting what comes next.
This campaign isn’t based on a rigid platform. We are living in uncertain and challenging times on many fronts. One thing we know for sure is that the top issue of today is unlikely to be the top issue in a year or two. That is why I am grounding this campaign in four priorities that would guide my leadership should I be elected as Mayor of Squamish.
At their core, these priorities are focused on celebrating how amazing Squamish truly is, holding up the good work we are doing, and getting back to doing what local governments do best: connecting with community, investing in the infrastructure that keeps our communities working and thriving, and supporting the people, small businesses, and community organizations that make Squamish awesome.
A Strong Voice for Squamish
Squamish is an amazing community and it deserves a strong, effective voice to lead and champion it – around the council table, in the community, and externally to our partners. Eight years on Council and my experience at various regional and provincial tables mean that I have the skills, understanding, and relationships to do this job - and to do it well.
Earning Your Trust
Our town is growing fast, but our ways of talking with one another haven’t kept pace with how much decision-making a growing town now requires. As your Mayor, I'll work to change how we engage and communicate with the community so your input leads to real conversations and meaningful action.
Disciplined Investment in Our Infrastructure
We’ve made significant investments in the infrastructure that keeps this town running: new fire halls, a public works facility, an expanded wastewater treatment plant, and more. The work ahead must focus on keeping the foundations strong while making room for the visible amenities our community wants and deserves.
A Local Government That Works for You
Just as our community has experienced growing pains, so too has the expectations of what services local governments should provide, and how. With eight years on council and a broad network of colleagues from communities throughout BC, I have seen first-hand where our systems work well and where improvements can be made. Residents want a local government that's responsive, easy to navigate, and keeps their interests at the centre of every decision — and I have ideas on how we can achieve that.
