I’m Jenna Stoner and I am running to be Mayor because I believe that Squamish needs experienced, collaborative leadership to meet this moment.

Squamish is an amazing place to call home. This is a place people choose to be and choose to stay because there's something genuinely special here. Whether I am downtown, out on the trails, at community events, or just watching this community grow around me, I sense our shared love for this town. It's why I chose Squamish as the place I call home, to put down roots, build my community, and raise our two kids.

But I also know that while Squamish is special, it isn't always an easy place to live. The cost of living keeps climbing, our amenities and infrastructure feel stretched, and our municipal systems haven't caught up to how fast we’re changing.

There's real work ahead to help our community reach its full potential: balancing investment in essential infrastructure with the amenities we want, improving local government systems and processes to meet the moment, and renewing trust between Council and community. 

Eight years on Council — and fifteen years working across business, government, and environmental conservation — have taught me that challenges like these don't get solved by any one person alone. They take strong leadership with a clear vision, a track record of collaboration, and an understanding of how the systems we are a part of actually work. That's the kind of leadership that I have brought to the table and I am proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish:

✓    446 below-market homes built (with 300+ more on the way!)

✓    125+ new childcare spaces created

✓    Two new firehalls

✓    An expanded wastewater treatment plant

✓    A new public works facility

✓    Provincial policy changes on Parental Leave and Codes of Conduct for local elected officials

These wins — and progress on our town’s biggest needs— come from strong collaboration at the Council table and steady partnerships with community members, advocates, staff, the province, the federal government, and the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).

I'm running for Mayor because I have the experience, skills, relationships, and vision to lead our community through the next four years. That experience goes well beyond the Council table — through my work with the region, our hospital board, and the province — and it means I'm ready to hit the ground running from day one. 

I'm so grateful for the chance to have served this community for the past eight years. I hope to earn your support to be Mayor and lead Squamish into what it is capable of becoming.

A STRONG VOICE FOR SQUAMISH. Squamish deserves a strong, effective voice to lead and champion it. I have the skills and relationships to be a strong advocate for Squamish on the issues that can’t be solved by the municipality alone: healthcare capacity, provincial housing dollars, transit expansion, school and education investments, and addressing the climate crisis.

EARNING YOUR TRUST. One of the biggest frustrations that I hear of this Council is a lack of real engagement. I'm committed to changing that starting with how and when we listen.

DISCIPLINED INVESTMENT IN OUR INFRASTRUCTURE. Significant investments in our critical infrastructure have kept our growing town safe and running. I'll keep investing in that foundation while creating room for the amenities our community wants and deserves, through strong fiscal discipline to make every dollar count.

A LOCAL GOVERNMENT THAT WORKS FOR YOU. Residents deserve a local government that's responsive, easy to navigate, and keeps their interests at the centre of every decision. Eight years at the Council table have shown me what makes Squamish's local government work well, and where it can be modernized to meet the needs of our growing community.

In doing this work, I recognize that we are on the traditional unceeded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw and that the path forward must be charted together through respectful relationship, shared learning, honest dialogue and meaningful action with the shared goal of a more vibrant and inclusive Squamish for all.

I am running for Mayor because I care deeply about this community and love this place we all call home.

I have the experience, skills, relationships, and vision to lead our community through the next four years. Eight years at the Council table and experience working with the region, our hospital board and the province mean that I am ready to start the job on Day 1.

    Join us for the 2026 Municipal All Candidates Meeting

    The Joint Engagement Committee, a collaboration between the Squamish Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association and Tourism Squamish, in partnership with the Squamish Chief, will host a Municipal All-Candidates Meeting at Brennan Park on Monday, October 5, providing residents and business community members with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking municipal office. The event will offer voters a chance to learn about candidates' priorities, ask questions, and gain insight into the issues shaping the future of Squamish ahead of election day.
